The old cottage has had many lives. Its origins are lost in the undocumented history of 1840s Richmond, but it has served as a maternity hospital, art gallery and private dwelling. The most recent makeover has resulted in modern, even sleek, guest accommodation.

Number 3 comprises a heritage listed cottage on the street side, a modern extension set into the garden at the rear with views over old Richmond towards the hills to the east.
